John MacArthur and James White Promote the Legacy Standard Bible Devoted to the Worship of the Heathen god Yahweh
Jehovah (Not Yahweh) Is LORD.
The popular practice of calling God “Yahweh” has heathen origins. Yahweh is NOT the proper name for God. The proper name for God is Jehovah. Yahweh is used in place of Jehovah. In reality, Yahweh is the name for a heathen weather god.
Dr. James White, who promotes the corrupt new Bible versions, says Jehovah is a false pronunciation of the Tetragrammaton: “Now, ‘Jehovah’ is a false pronunciation of the Hebrew word ‘YHWH,’ correctly pronounced ‘Yahweh.’ This is God’s ‘personal’ name in the Old Testament.” This corruption is finding its way into the modern Bible translations. For example, the New Living Translation (NLT) has changed the passage where God identifies himself as Jehovah to having God identify himself as Yahweh.
KJV
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. Exodus 6:2-3 (KJV)NLT
And God said to Moses, “I am Yahweh—‘the Lord.’ I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob as El-Shaddai—‘God Almighty’—but I did not reveal my name, Yahweh, to them. Exodus 6:2-3 (NLT)
James White promotes the Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) as being more accurate than the King James Bible. The LSB replaces God’s name, Jehovah, with the name Yahweh. Using the name Yahweh is not a different way of pronouncing God’s name. It is a replacement of God. Indeed, James White is emphatic that God’s name is NOT Jehovah. He claims that God’s true name is Yahweh, and it is impossible for his name to be Jehovah. “Yahweh is unquestionably the best pronunciation of the Divine name. Jehovah is not even possible.” James White and the LSB have rejected the true God, Jehovah, and replaced him with a heathen tribal god, Yahweh.
KJV
And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am the LORD: And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. (Exodus 6:2-3 KJV)LSB
God spoke further to Moses and said to him, “I am Yahweh; and I appeared to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as God Almighty, but by My name, Yahweh, I was not known to them.” (Exodus 6:2-3 LSB)
John MacArthur, a world-famous preacher and President of the Master’s University and Seminary, announced the publication of the Legacy Standard Bible (LSB) by making particular note of the use of Yahweh in place of Jehovah. MacArthur states that it is of utmost importance that Christians know God’s name. He states that changing Jehovah to Yahweh is one of the principal reasons he considers the LSB “a priceless treasure—an amazing effort.” But he obfuscates what he has actually done. He claims he is more reverent to God by stating his name, which he thinks is Yahweh, instead of the LORD. But he does not reveal that he is changing the name of the eternal God from Jehovah to Yahweh. To understand that, you would have to read Exodus 6:3, Psalms 83:18, Isaiah 12:2, and Isaiah 26:4 in the LSB.
For about a year, linguistic scholars of the Master’s University and the Master’s Seminary have been working on a translation called the Legacy Standard Bible. It’s come to completion. Now, the first printed form of it is the New Testament Psalms and Proverbs. It’s the best English translation I have ever read. It’s the most diligently prepared translation. And one of the wonderful features of it is it calls God by the name he asked to be remembered by. When you say LORD, you’re talking about his sovereignty. In all English Bibles, Yahweh is translated LORD in upper case letters. But that just repeats Adonai. It doesn’t give you the name of God, which is the covenant name that expresses his eternal being. He wants you to know his name. And you say it all the time. Every time you say hallelujah, you say praise, Yahweh. This translation, for that and a number of reasons, is a priceless treasure—an amazing effort.
The translators of the LSB have gone on record to say that the KJV is wrong. They claim that “Jehovah we do believe is an incorrect way of pronouncing it [the tetragrammaton, YHVH]. But what that is, it is a misreading of the vowels that appear on the letters YHWH on the word Yahweh.”
The rising popularity of the Hebrew Roots movement has spearheaded the recent upsurge in substituting Jehovah with Yahweh. The Hebrew Roots movement is a Zionist theology followed by Gentiles that emphasizes recovering Jewish legalism while claiming faith in Jesus. It is sometimes also called the Sacred Name movement. While those in the Hebrew Roots movement claim faith in Jesus, they have a different Jesus from the Biblical Jesus. There is no indication that James White or John MacArthur are part of the Hebrew Roots movement. But their adoption of Yahweh is an indication of how portions of the Hebrew Roots theology are wafting into the ersatz “Christian” churches.

Let me preface by saying I enjoy listening to you, and I respect and admire you, and your position on just about everything I’ve come across. Your trust in some of the medical ideologies/procedures may be an exception. I especially appreciate your Biblical earth work!
On page 45 of the book referenced in this article, you wrote “…Notice how Satan leaves off the last four words…” Then you write,
““For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways” (Psalms 91:11 AV)”
and beneath it:
“”For it is written, For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep thee.” (Luke 4:10 AV)”
Luke’s meaning is absolutely clear ~ with or without the last four words. To say it’s Satan, makes no sense in the context you’ve given, unless you are indicating that even King James had the scriptures translated without a pure heart, and that he was not above allowing “adding or taking” (letting Satan in, so to speak) and that it’s not only modern day translators prone to possible inconsistencies. We’ve read that may be the case, and that some modern translations HAVE corrected KJV from the ancient texts. It’s difficult to be certain since we have no originals…
You can sit on your mountain of privilege and spout off about those of us reading and distributing all but the KJV going to hell or being heretics, but that shows little faith in our Father. He ALONE knows the heart. He can provide Truth in any context as He promises His word will be preserved. I’d certainly rather read something that flows in my own spoken language (I don’t speak Old English), and I’m sure there are MANY misunderstandings by KJV only folks because we DON’T speak that way, or even use the same vocabulary in many cases.
Here at the bottom of the mountain, I work with street kids (all male) ~ some lucky to be alive, with bullet wounds to prove it, others who have killed, or tried to kill others in the streets. Drugs are the driving force behind everything. Some have no family to speak of ~ or worse, have families with members who have abused and raped them for years - or sold them for the same to fuel their own demons, until corrupt CYS agencies remove them. That rarely improves their lives. By the time they get to me, some are a mess and often can’t read above a 3rd grade level. KJV?! Laughable. They have limited vocabulary when it comes to everyday English! I’ve seen adults walk away from the KJV Scriptures because they can’t read & comprehend; they become exasperated and give up. I do what I can to teach these kids about Jesus and provide them with a Bible ~ whatever I have in the collection I’ve managed to assemble. The simplest is best. I let God worry about helping them read and understand it, and changing their hearts and lives. I’ve even given out The Adventure Bible <gasp!>. Comic book style isn’t my first choice, but when you see a 15-year-old thrilled because he’s “read” and understands a little bit about God or Jesus, I see God at work. I just bought a big box of “365 Read Aloud Bible Stories” written quite simply. Some kids are convinced, and have accepted, they’re going to hell because they know going home means the streets ~ where they’ll be forced to live “accordingly”. It’s heartbreaking! And heartbreaking to get word when one has killed, been killed, overdosed, or done something that means decades in prison. God alone knows their hearts.
If you know of a suitable resource ~ book, brief Bible study, or whatever, that would SIMPLY explain to teens what Christianity is, what it takes to be saved, and how to live for God, I’d love to hear your recommendations (maybe you could write something?!). KJV just can’t cut it; I’d love to write something but am intimidated by the idea of speaking for God and not getting it all accurate. I already worry about saying things that are incorrect and leading these kids wrong somehow! I pray constantly for God to guide me and to protect them. Thanks for hearing me; blessings on you always.
Edward, appreciate your writings! Have your book, Greatest Lie on Earth, on my shelf as well.
I stake no position, nor especially one of expertise in this conversation. But, I must add, with the creation of the letter “J” in 1524, I do not believe the name could be Jehovah. I also believe the Tetragrammaton to be a deception from the Hebrew Roots movement.
I have struggled with what to call The Father since being awakened from my prior scientism and atheism, and have been discouraged due to the massive historical deceptions in timelines, places, people and names as placeholders. We certainly have phantom hundreds if not thousands of years added to our Scaligarian, Vatican approved timeline. See: Jean Hordouin, Isaac Newton, Dr Anatoly Fomenko etc.
I’m always casually reading into the subject, here’s a fairly well sourced article about the proper name of The Father (I AM is the author’s conclusion). https://christianobserver.net/our-gods-name-is-not-yah-yahweh-or-jehovah/
I did have one final thought, in that King James is certainly a peculiar historical figure, Freemason, homosexual, hedonist. It certainly seem a to have been written by Francis Bacon, as with all of Shakespeare. I have Geneva and Tyndale, and worry they are not early enough. The Vatican held the book up for 1,000 years (allegedly) and being found with a copy was punishable by death. I have Ethiopian copies with the full apocrypha, as well as all the traditional gnostic gospels. And, it’s still a struggle. Deception all around, separating us from The Father has been a goal for millennia!
